Newly elected Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Officials in the Province of Isabela underwent the Sangguniang Kabataan Mandatory Training (SKMT) conducted by the DILG, the NYC, and the Isabela State University - Echague Campus as a requirement before they can assume Office.

Aptly anchored on the theme, “We Don’t Build Hope, We Build Future”, the first batch of SKMT was simultaneously held on May 16, 2018 in different venues such as at Zen Hotel, Santiago City for the newly elected SK Officials from Ramon and Cordon; at Isabela Hotel, Cauayan City for SK Officials from Aurora and Quezon; and at Pastoral Council Hall, Cauayan City for SK Officials from Alicia. About one thousand (1000) newly-elected SK Officials attended the 1st day of the series of SK Mandatory Trainings.

Present to grace and witness the activity were OIC-Assistant Regional Director Elpidio A. Durwin, DILG Isabela Provincial Director Engr. Corazon D. Toribio and OIC-Division Chief Catherine G. Allam-Miranda. Provincial staff and Field Officers served as Resource Person and Facilitator. Further, to ensure that the training is conducted based on the standards set by DILG, LGA and NYC, technical staff from Regional Office likewise served as members of Monitoring and Evaluation Team.

In his Message, ARD Durwin reminded the young leaders of their important role in nation-building, particularly in coming up with services and projects that will benefit the youth in the community.

The activity concluded with the oath-taking of the newly elected SK Officials administered by the Municipal Mayor and other authorized officials.

Trainings in the other municipalities and cities in Isabela as well as in the other provinces namely, Batanes, Cagayan, Nueva Vizcya and Quirino will commence in the succeeding days. The conduct of SKMTs in Region 02 is expected to be finished/completed by May 26, 2018.
