IGUIG, CAGAYAN — To support basic services in Barangay Manaoag, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Iguig utilized its FY 2023 Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (FALGU) for the construction of a Multi-purpose building and covered court.

The multi-purpose building, officially inaugurated on May 24, 2024, was attended by officials of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) led by Assistant Regional Director Elpidio A. Durwin in behalf of Regional Director Agnes A. De Leon, Cagayan Provincial Director Maria Loida M. Urmatam, and personnel from the Regional and Provincial Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU).

The blessing and inauguration of the multi-purpose building were overseen by Mayor Ferdinand B. Trinidad with the assistance of other elective officials and LGU functionaries, in partnership with Barangay Manaoag’s elective officials and with the support of MLGOO Victor T. Santos. Also in attendance were members of the Local Project Monitoring Committee (LPMC).

During the inauguration, ARD Durwin stated that the assistance was given to the town due to its outstanding performance in government service. He added that the upcoming infrastructure projects will continue to significantly impact the lives of many in the communities of Iguig. He also commended the LGU for the quick and efficient completion of the project.

PD Urmatam supported ARD Durwin’s message, advising the officials of Barangay Manaoag to maintain and take care of the project to benefit their barangay and prolong its lifespan.

Mayor Trinidad explained that Manaoag was chosen out of the 23 barangays in Iguig for the FALGU due to the extreme weather conditions affecting public and social gatherings in the community. He said that with the completed multi-purpose building and gym, the community can now conduct their activities in the newly inaugurated building.

The Municipality of Iguig received PhP 5,000,000 for the construction of the multi-purpose building in Barangay Manaoag.
