DILG Regional Office 2, Carig Sur, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 2 conducted the Culminating Activity in Celebration of the 2025 National Women’s Month on March 31, 2025 at the DILG Regional Office 2 in Carig Sur, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan and via Zoom Platform. The event wrapped up the month-long celebration of the 2025 National Women’s Month Celebration to honor the contributions of women in the workplace and in the community.
In her message, Regional Director Agnes A. De Leon, CESO IV highlighted this year’s theme for National Women’s Month: “Babae sa Lahat ng Sector, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas.” She emphasized the crucial and important role of women in the organization.
RD De Leon said “This theme encapsulates the power and promise of women in every sector. At DILG Region 2, we stand by the belief that when women are given equal opportunities, they uplift not just their families and communities but the entire nation.”
The highlight of the event was the keynote speech delivered by ASec. Josephine F. Cabrido-Leysa, Assistant Secretary for Human Resource Development. ASec. Cabrido-Leysa stressed that true empowerment is achieved when women’s contributions are recognized and valued across all sectors of society. “The road to a truly inclusive society starts with recognizing the immense value that women bring to all sectors and empowering them to lead”, she said.
Further, ASec. Cabrido-Leysa shared a profound quote from Maya Angelou, which resonated deeply with the spirit of the celebration:
“We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter their color; equal in importance no matter their texture.”
A high-energy Zumba session concluded the activity, promoting both physical well-being and camaraderie.
This year’s National Women’s Month Celebration ended through a powerful celebration of women leadership, diversity, and shared commitment in building a more inclusive future for all.
