The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Quirino conducted the MASA MASID Program Orientation to 25 targeted barangays in the Municipalities of Maddela, Diffun and Saguday to capacitate the duly enrolled MASA MASID Teams and Volunteers on their roles in the implementation of the anti-illegal drug program.

200 MMTs, 334 MMVs and 56 other participants attended the activity in consonance with the implementing guidelines of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2016-116.

The Municipality of Maddela which covered Barangays San Pedro, Buenavista, Divisoria Sur, Dumabato Norte, Diduyon, Santa Maria, San Bernabe, Balligui and Villa Agullana was oriented first on November 20, 2017 at Villa Caridad. The orientation for the Municipality of Saguday which covered Barangays Cardenas, Gamis, Salvacion, Tres Reyes and Santo Tomas was held on November 22, 2017 at DISADECO Conference Hall. The Municipality of Diffun which covered Barangays Bannawag Sur, Cajel, Diego Silang, Dumanisi, Gabriela Silang, Isidro Paredes, Liwayway, Luttuad, Rafael Palma, San Isidro and Villa Pascua undertook the orientation November 23, 2017 at the same venue.\

Regional Facilitator Romeo P. Manongas, Provincial Focal Person Teresita L. Baquirin and Community Facilitators Homer Allan J. Ramos and Peter B. Santos led the in-depth discussions on the MASA MASID Program which includes its legal bases, framework and implementation strategies, among others. Emphasis was given on the roles and responsibilities of the MMTs and MMVs particularly on information gathering and reporting system.

The activity was capped with the participants signifying their 100% commitment to support the program.

MASA MASID is a community-based program for the prevention of corruption, illegal drugs and criminality in barangays which aims to encourage communities to take a proactive stance in the government’s fight against such illegalities.#
