
ILAGAN CITY, ISABELA -- The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Provincial Office of Isabela conducted an orientation on the program dubbed "FY 2018 Local Government Support Fund--Assistance to Municipalities (LGSF-AM)", July 04, 2018.
Started early this year, the program aims to assist the municipalities by providing financial subsidy to carry out the implementation of their priority programs and projects for the people.
LGSF-AM program supports projects such as Evacuation Center and Disaster Risk Reduction-Related Equipment, Local Access Roads, Potable Water Systems, Small Water Impounding Project, Drug Rehabilitation Center, Local Bridges, Sanitation and Health Facility, and Rain Water Catchment.
In her message, Engr. Corazon D. Toribio, Provincial Director, said the orientation will serve as a venue to apprise LGU functionaries on the salient features of the Memorandum Circular No. 2018-61 especially Section 8 stressing its sanctions and penal provisions.
"Public office is a public trust, as such, it is not only for what you do that you are held responsible but also those na hindi natin nagagawa," she said.
Further, Engr. Cheryl Flores, Engr. Julian Emil Ison, Engr. Mario Paz, and Engr. Mick Ivan Sumilang served as resource speakers from the Office of the Project Development Services of DILG Central Office and discussed the LGSF-AM implementation and monitoring guidelines, guidance on the process of termination or cancellation of projects under the locally-funded programs and SubayBAYAN, an online monitoring and reporting tool for projects under LFPs.
Currently, the program has catered the first batch of municipalities consisting of about 1,137 Local Government Units nationwide with a total of 2,496 sub-projects amounting to P9.813B.
In Cagayan Valley, DILG Region 02 recorded a total of 199 funded projects amounting to P694.4M from 74 municipalities under the LGSF-AM program.
51 of these projects are from the 34 municipalities of Isabela with a financial assistance of about P329.8M.
Meanwhile, 36 municipalities in the Province of Isabela joined the one-day orientation including 6 municipal mayors namely Hon. Reynaldo Derije of Dinapigue, Hon. Jimmy Gamazon of Quezon, Venturito Bulan of Divilacan, Hon. Lycelle Kate Domingo of Maconacon, Hon. Elizabeth Ochoa of Palanan, and Hon. Juan Capuchino of Naguilian.
