Cabarroguis, Quirino – DILG Quirino, through its Project Development and Monitoring Unit, conducted a Training-Workshop on Road Safety Audit at the Quirino Water Sports Complex, San Marcos, Cabarroguis on January11-13, 2022. A total of twenty-eight (28) participants composed of Local Road Management Team (LRMT), Municipal Engineers, and MEO Technical personnel attended the three-day activity.

Opening the activity, Program Manager, Blessing Grace G. Sagun, expressed her gratitude to all local functionaries who joined the activity, particularly the road management team, for involving the Municipal Local Government Units in the training. She also underscored the importance of the activity and pointed out the risks of insufficient road safety measures, given the landscape of the Province. “Road safety is not something that we can sacrifice over design, because road safety means safety of the people passing by. Hence, it should be taken seriously,” she said.

Engr. Daryl Estocapio and Engr. Chester Paul Tacadena, from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Quirino, comprehensively discussed the fundamental principles of Road Safety, which serves as a guide for the LGUs to mainstream and operationalize road safety in their management systems.

Part of the training also involved a workshop where LGUs were asked to present their respective observations and recommendations thru an audit report and an actual road safety audit of select road sections in Cabarroguis to obtain a better understanding of the entire process followed by the preparation and plenary presentation of the result of the audit.

The activity culminated with the awarding of certificates to the resource persons and participants and a closing remark from DILG Provincial Director, Salvacion Z. Baccay, who thanked everyone for their active participation throughout the activity.
