
ALCALA, CAGAYAN - The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Alcala, Cagayan prouldy celebrated the inauguration of its concreted local access road, financed though the 2022 Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF), at Sitio Sulbec, Brgy. Agani today, October 18, 2023.
ARD Durwin fondly reminisces about his childhood, vividly recalling the days when he had to navigate through muddy roads, clutching his slippers, as he made his way to school.
Director Elpidio A. Durwin, Assistant Regional Director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 2 commended LGU Alcala, under the leadership of Atty. Cristina I. Antonio, Municipal Mayor, for their commitment to achieving good governance, evident in the incentive fund granted through the SGLG. He urged the residents who received the project to take responsibility for maintaining the concrete road to ensure its long-term durability. ARD Durwin expressed his hope that the LGU would persist in its commitment to upholding good governance, not only to attain the Seal of Good Local Governance but also to deliver effective and efficient governance for the betterment of the constituents.
Mayor Antonio strongly asserts that roads continue to be cross cutting innovations not just for being an infrastructure project but for its felt and real impact in the grassroots level.
Mayor Antonio openly acknowledged the challenges overcome by the LGU to achieve the prestigious SGLG award and praised the dedicated efforts of the technical working group. She emphasized that the LGU had given their utmost effort, always keeping their fellow constituents in mind. She further stated that the SGLG serves as a measure of the LGU's commitment to serving the people and determining whether they, as elected officials, are deserving of the people's trust. Mayor Antonio hopes for a future where good governance becomes second nature to the leaders and functionaries of the LGU, persisting even after she no longer holds public office.

Barangay Captain Sonny A. Pavo from Agani extended his heartfelt appreciation to the LGU and the DILG for successfully implementing the SGLGIF in their barangay. He expressed that with the recent concrete paving of the road in Sulbec, he is relieved that he will no longer witness children trudging through the muddy, unpaved road while carrying their slippers and shoes.

The concreted local access road at Sitio Sulbec funded through the FY 2022 SGLGIF will benefit total of 2,743 individuals will benefit from the road concreting particularly farmers, fisher folks, and learners.

The SGLGIF is an institutionalized award, incentive, honor and recognition-based program aimed at enhancing LGUs' commitment to continuous progress and improvement in various governance areas.
