The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 2 kick-started the validation phase of the of nominated infrastructure projects in the five provinces of Region 2 for the Region 2 Adopting Safe, Sustainable, and Resilient Infrastructure Systems (R2 ASSETS) last October 23-27, 2023.

R2 ASSETS is an annual incentive program that was launched in 2020. It aims to recognize the commendable efforts of Local Government Units (LGUs) in various areas, including compliance with project implementation guidelines, safe and secure infrastructure systems, online reporting, sustainability of projects, resiliency of local infrastructures, and the functionality of the Local Project Monitoring Committee (LMPC). This incentive award not only acknowledges the achievements of LGUs but also serves as an inspiration to other LGUs to strive for continuous improvement in enhancing the well-being of their constituents.

The following are the nominated and assessed entries per category:

Local Access Road Category

• FY 2021 LGSF-FALGU – Completion of the Construction of Reyna-Nyoy-Dibtong Access Road, Ivana, Batanes
• FY 2022 LGSF-FALGU – Concreting of Farm-to-Market Road in Brgy.. San Vicente, Tuao, Cagayan
• FY 2021 LGSF-FALGU – Concreting of Road at Barangays San Ignacio and Marasat Grande, San Mateo, Isabela
• FY 2022 LGSF-SBDP – Concreting of Tadyukong-Tuplac Farm to Market Road at Brgy..Dulli, Ambaguio, Nueva Vizcaya
• FY 2022 LGSF-SBDP – Concreting of Farm to Market Road at Brgy.. Dingasan, Cabarroguis, Quirino

Potable Water System Category

• FY 2021 LGSF-FALGU – Construction of Level III Water System at Sitio Mayuray, Barangay Sinakan, Sabtang, Batanes
• FY 2022 LGSF-SBDP – Construction of Level II Potable Water System in Brgy. Masi, Rizal, Cagayan
• FY 2022 LGSF-SBDP – Construction of Potable Water System at Purok 2 Barangay Nacalma, Benito Soliven, Isabela

Vertical Infrastructure Category

• FY 2022 LGSF-GEF – Construction of Post-Harvest and Storage Building at Uyugan, Batanes
• FY 2022 LGSF-FALGU – Construction of Evacuation Center in Brgy. Bessang, Allacapan, Cagayan
• FY 2022 LGSF-DRRAP – Expansion of Evacuation Center Cum Quarantine Facility at Cabagan, Isabela

Deliberation for the winners in each category including the SubayBAYAN Category will be discussed when the team will convene on November 7-9, 2023. The awarding for the R2 ASSETS is scheduled on November 23, 2023.

The Regional Evaluation Team for this year’s R2 ASSETS consists of engineers from the different DILG Provincial Offices of Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino who evaluated and assessed the nominated projects in each province.

Two teams were dispatched to Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino where simultaneous validation commenced.
