
TUGUEGARAO CITY, CAGAYAN - The Cagayan Valley Regional Peace and Order Council (CV-RPOC) successfully convened its first-quarter meeting at Tabones Hall, Department of Agrarian Reform Regional Office 2, RGC, Carig Sur, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, on March 4, 2024. The session, chaired by MGEN Audrey L. Pasia, Commander, 5ID, Philippine Army, Vice Chairperson of CV-RPOC, brought together key stakeholders actively engaged in addressing critical updates, issues, and challenges affecting the peace and order landscape of the region.
The meeting served as a pivotal platform for the council members to engage in thoughtful discourse, providing information, guidance, and a comprehensive forum for deliberation. This strategic gathering aimed to identify potential solutions and map out actionable plans to address the region's peace and order concerns.
PBGEN Christopher C Birung, Regional Director of the Philippine National Police RO2 and Co-Vice Chairperson of CV-RPOC, presented updates on the Peace and Order Situation of the Region. His comprehensive report covered the crime situation, operational accomplishments, and commendable practices of PRO2 for the period spanning December 1, 2023, to February 26, 2024. The unwavering efforts and dedication of PRO2 in battling the crime environment resulted in a notable decrease in total recorded crimes compared to the same period in CY 2023.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency representative presented the Illegal Drug Situation of the region, discussing key aspects such as the regional drug situation, supply reduction, demand reduction, and the agency's assessment for the period of December 1, 2023, to February 26, 2024.
MGEN Pasia presented updates on the Internal Security Operations in the region. This comprehensive report covered the threat situation, operational accomplishments, way forward, recommendations, and the challenges faced by the Philippine Army and the government for the period of December 1, 2023, to February 28, 2024.
A notable achievement highlighted during the meeting was the reduction of the threat situation in the region to seventeen (17) armed manpower, a direct result of the determined efforts of the Philippine Army. MGEN Pasia called for a unified national approach to completely diminish and eradicate the remaining armed groups in the region. Emphasizing the significance of Executive Order No. 70, he conveyed a powerful message to all present, "Walang magmamalasakit at magmamahal sa PILIPINAS kundi tayong mga PILIPINO! Walang tutulong sa PILIPINO kung hindi kapwa PILIPINO!"
The CV-RPOC remains committed to fostering collaboration among its members, ensuring the sustained improvement of the peace and order situation in the region. This first-quarter meeting laid a solid foundation for continued efforts in creating a safer and more secure environment for the communities within Cagayan Valley.
