TUGUEGARAO CITY, CAGAYAN – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office II started its week-long participation in the celebration of National Girl Child Week with a kick-start discussion on modern-day inequalities and discrimination against girls and ways of providing a safer environment for them.
With the Department's mission of championing equal treatment and opportunities for women, the discussion centered on ways the agency could further its cause for eliminating discrimination in the community.
Local Government Operations Officer V (LGOO V) Jasmin Aresta led the discussion which was attended by the DILG Regional Office II personnel.
"Young women students are one of the most vulnerable sectors… teaching them how to report cases of violence against them is not enough", Aresta said. She added that we must all do our part to help make a safer community for girls and women in general.
Moreover, the Chief of the Local Government Monitoring and Evaluations Division Maybelle E. Anog also expressed her commitment to promoting women's rights in their work as employees of the Department.
Division Chief Anog urged the agency’s employees to be relevant to their Department’s missions by engaging themselves with the community. “We shall continue to have a unified stand in addressing day-to-day problems", Division Chief Anog added.
Furthermore, the DILG Regional Office II is still set to undertake several programs in the remaining weeks of March in connection to their oneness to the celebration of National Women's Month.
