
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office 02, through the Regional Project Development and Management Unit (RPDMU), held an orientation on the Guidelines for the Release and Utilization of the Local Government Support Fund – Growth Equity Fund (LGSF-GEF), as stipulated in the FY 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA), Republic Act No. 11936, and detailed in Local Budget Circular No. 159 earlier today, September 10, 2024 via Zoom Platform.
The orientation was attended by Municipal Engineers, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinators, SubayBAYAN focal persons, and Municipal Local Government Operations Officers from the receipient Local Government Units (LGUs) and barangays of the FY 2023 LGSF-GEF. These include the municipalities of Maconacon, Palanan, San Mariano, San Guillermo, Santo Tomas, and Tumauini in the Province of Isabela; LGU Kayapa in Nueva Vizcaya Province; and Barangay Santo Tomas, Saguday in Quirino Province. Chiefs and technical staff from the Project Development and Management Units (PDMUs) of Isabela, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya have also attended.
The session aimed to equip participants with a thorough understanding of the rules and regulations for implementing water system projects funded by the LGSF-GEF. The proposed projects include the construction, rehabilitation, and improvement of Level II and Level III water systems, which are critical to ensuring access to clean and safe water in their respective communities.
In his address, Atty. Rambo R. Tambauan, RPDMU Chief, highlighted the key role of LGUs in the successful implementation of these projects. He encouraged participants to incorporate their proposed water system projects into their Local Development Investment Plans (LDIP) and Annual Investment Plans (AIP) to guarantee the long-term sustainability of these initiatives.
Mr. Jojit A. Cambri, CPA, from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Region 2, served as the primary resource speaker, along with his colleagues from the Regional Project Development and Management Unit.
