AMBAGUIO, NUEVA VIZCAYA — The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Ambaguio officially commenced the groundbreaking ceremony for its Potable Water System projects, funded through the Support and Assistance Fund to Participatory Budgeting (SAFPB) on October 16, 2024.

The Construction of Level III Water System Project in Barangays Tiblac, Napo, and Camandag, as well as the Upgrading of Level III Water Project in Barangays Napo and Ammoweg were funded through the FY 2024 SAFPB.

The unified efforts of various government agencies, LGU elective officials, and functionaries made the groundbreaking of the SAFPB-funded water system projects possible at Ambaguio, Nueva Vizcaya.

The ceremony was graced by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) led by  Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Director Catherine Allam-Miranda, MLGOO Karen Birung and representatives from the Regional and Provincial Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU). Also in attendance were Municipal Mayor Ronelio Danao, Vice Mayor Leon Lino, other elective officials and functionaries, the respective barangay captains of the beneficiary barangays, and representatives from various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) such as senior citizens and the religious sector.

Engineer IV Jayron Andres delivered the message of RD Agnes De Leon congratulating LGU Ambaguio for being one of the selected FY 2024 SAFPB beneficiaries in Region 2.

Despite her absence, Regional Director Agnes A. De Leon conveyed her message which was delivered by one of the RPDMU representatives. RD De Leon congratulated LGU Ambaguio for being selected as one of the pilot SAFPB beneficiaries in the region. She underscored the project's significance in providing the community with more accessible and safe potable water which is one of the basic necessities.

Nueva Vizcaya PD Catherine Allam-Miranda hopes that after the water system project is completed, it will bring comfort to the families of Ambaguio.

Meanwhile, PD Allam-Miranda encouraged LGU Ambaguio to effectively realize the goal of the project — for the families to enjoy safe potable water while emphasizing that the project will be a great blessing for the community.

Mayor Ronelio Danao expresses his gratitude for the support of DILG in making the project possible.

Mayor Danao expressed his gratitude to the DILG for their support in making the project a reality. He also acknowledged the efforts of the LGU personnel and officials for their active participation in ensuring that all stakeholders contribute to the completion of this project.

In addition, the beneficiary barangays shared their struggles in accessing clean and safe potable water. They had little to no access to such water, often walking one kilometer from their homes just to fetch what they needed for their daily necessities. As a result, they expressed immense gratitude for being chosen as recipients of the project and promised to take good care of it after its completion.

SAFPB is a groundbreaking initiative designed to strengthen the partnership and collaboration between local government units (LGUs) and civil society organizations (CSOs). The initial program for FY 2024 includes projects such as the construction, expansion, and rehabilitation of Level III water supply systems, as well as the improvement of existing sanitary toilets and hygiene facilities in public places.
