
Cauayan City, Isabela – The Department of the Interior and Local Government Region 2 launched the Barangay Information Management System (BIMS), a nationwide digital platform developed to modernize barangay governance. The rollout event, held on November 5, 2024, at the Hotel Sophia Function Hall, Boulevard Town Square in Cauayan City, Isabela, gathered over 226 barangay officials and secretaries from Region 2.

Regional Director Agnes A. De Leon, CESO IV, opened the event, describing BIMS as a major step in digitalization aimed at enhancing public services, streamlining operations, and strengthening transparency and accountability in barangays. DILG R2 ICT experts, including ISR II Elpidio Jay-R T. Cancino, ISA Sherman A. Tamayao, ISA Myla Jane M. Macadangdang, ISA Rociel Mari R. Roces, ISA Karl Jun M. Cayaba, and Database Administrator Daniel L. Ramones, led live demonstrations of BIMS’ capabilities, showcasing features for inhabitant profiling, issuance management, certification processing, incident handling, and barangay website management. These tools aim to make services more accessible and efficient for barangay officials and their communities. Atty. Bryan Niño D. Soriano also delivered a briefing on data privacy law, underscoring the importance of safeguarding digital information within the platform.
