
SAN MATEO, ISABELA – The Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Mateo officially inaugurated a covered court funded under the FY 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF) at San Antonio Elementary School (SAES), Barangay San Antonio, on January 17, 2025.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 2 was represented by Regional Director Agnes A. De Leon, Isabela Provincial Director Corazon D. Toribio, Cluster Head Imelda P.A. Rosales, and Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) Baldovino Baldwin M. Valdez, along with members of the Regional and Provincial Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU). The event was also attended by Mayor Atty. Gregorio A. Pua, other local elective officials and functionaries, and representatives from the Department of Education (DepEd) led by Schools Division Supervisor (SDS) Bernaldo P. Taberna.
In her message, RD De Leon congratulated the LGU for being a consistent SGLG awardee for eight consecutive years, commended the successful completion of the project, and lauded the LGU’s decision to invest the SGLGIF in infrastructure for the education sector. She highlighted the importance of utilizing the incentive fund for the construction of the covered court, which benefits not only learners but also the entire community. She also expressed her hope that the learners of SAES would strive for academic excellence, inspired by the new facility.
PD Toribio praised LGU San Mateo for prioritizing social development through the establishment of the covered court at SAES. She encouraged the school and the barangay to ensure proper maintenance and upkeep of the facility. Furthermore, she challenged the LGU to continue delivering and upholding excellent service to the municipality, emphasizing that being a consistent SGLG awardee reflects their unwavering commitment to public service. She reminded them that the SGLG recognition is an added bonus, highlighting their dedication to serving their constituents.
SDS Taberna expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the LGU and the DILG for using the SGLGIF to construct the covered court. He emphasized how the facility will significantly benefit the learners, parents, and faculty of San Antonio Elementary School by fostering a better environment for academic and community activities.
