AURORA, ISABELA—The Municipality of Aurora officially unveiled its newest economic and cultural landmark, Balay Sarabo, a pasalubong center aimed at promoting local products and supporting small businesses. Funded through the 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF), the center was inaugurated on March 20, 2025, marking another milestone in the LGU’s commitment to sustainable development.
The inauguration ceremony gathered key officials, including DILG Regional Director Agnes A. De Leon, Isabela Provincial Director Corazon D. Toribio, Cluster Head Karla Bernadette M. Aldea-Rollan, and MLGOO Love Angel P. Zinampan, alongside representatives from the Regional and Provincial Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU).
The event commenced with the blessing of the newly built structure, followed by a heartfelt message from Mayor Joseph Christian G. Uy. In his speech, he expressed gratitude to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for its unwavering support, highlighting how the agency's guidance has helped Aurora secure the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) for three consecutive years.
DILG Regional Director Agnes A. De Leon lauded the LGU’s strategic use of the SGLG Incentive Fund, emphasizing its role in empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). She encouraged local officials to take full advantage of the One Town, One Product (OTOP) program, particularly by promoting calamansi, one of Aurora’s flagship produce. She also took the opportunity to discuss the mechanics of the newly announced SGLG assessment.
With the establishment of Balay Sarabo, Aurora now has a dedicated hub to showcase its rich cultural heritage, promote locally made products, and strengthen its economy. This initiative not only provides a platform for local entrepreneurs but also solidifies the municipality’s vision for inclusive and sustainable development—ensuring that homegrown businesses thrive for years to come.
